. Reviving old memories-RCPD s nostalgic Youth Festival duringb ganapati celebrations
The Youth Festival organized by the Boat Club Mitra Mandal and the Rotary Club of Poona Downtown brings back nostalgic memories. 25 years of the Mandal but my association and involvement began in 1986 – both as a Rotarian and as a resident of Boat Club.
In no other field of activity can one build character, a sense of healthy competition, organizing capability, integration and of course a lot of fun and frolic than on the field of sports. It is to this aim that the Youth Festival has been directed – to channelize the potential of our youth in the right direction – towards a better tomorrow for them.
The youth Festival over a spell of 10 days encompasses a variety of items: Sports – from badminton to Table Tennis, from Athletics to obstacle races. Games – Carrom and Chess to creative art like painting, essay writing, collage and fancy dress, entertainment from a magic show to cookery and flower arrangements. Team games like Telematches, volley ball and not to mention Arti every evening and tremendous enthusiasm and gay abandon with which Ganpati is finally taken out in a procession and immersed.
