Minutes of Meeting Held on 10th October 2023 at the residence of IPP Zimra Israel Present: Rtns Aruna Rathi, Zimra Israel, Yezdi Batliwala, Sunil Holay, Sujata Malkani, Shailendra Abhyankar, Bageshri Gogate, PNN Iyer, Shikha Mitra Leave of Absence: Rtn. Masarrat Tavawala, Rtn Vinod Dua and Rtn Rajendra Nahar Guest Rotarian: Rtn Mateesh Rai Proceedings President Aruna welcomed everyone. Minutes of the BOD Meeting held on 21st September 2023 were proposed to be adopted by Rtn Bageshri Gogate, seconded by. Rtn Sujata Malkani and thereafter unanimously adopted by the Board. The directors presented their reports. A. Treasurer’s Report i) Rtn Sunil Holay reported that 8 members are yet to pay the annual subscriptions. ii) Of the 8 members still to pay the Club Dues- - Rtn Zimra will follow up with Rtn Umakant Ghate and Rtn Sanjay Mathur. Rtn. Sunil to check up with the rest. iii) Club and Trust accounts are as follows: • RCPD - RECEIPTS & PAYMENTS A/c 2022-23 (CLUB)- July & Sept-23 B.O.I Rs. 1,02,199.70 • RCPD - RECEIPTS & PAYMENTS A/c 2022-23 (TRUST) - July & Sept-23 HDFC Bank Rs. 5,07,410.62 • RCPD - RECEIPTS & PAYMENTS Other CSR A/c 2022-23 - July & Sept-2023 HDFC Bank Rs. 35,18,525/-. • Sunshine Box collection during July, August, September 2023 Rs. 16,800/- IPP Zimra requested a clear mention be made of the amounts from the HDFC Trust Account and CSR Account that have been allocated for the ongoing TB and Dialysis projects. B. Club Administration President Aruna Rathi summed up the coming activities of the Club Administration in the absence of Vice President Rtn Masarrat Tavawalla. i) A visit to the Times of India Press is being organized by Rtn. Sujata. ii) Diwali fellowship is being planned for 11th November 2023. iii) Club Assembly is scheduled for 2nd November 2023. iv) Election of the Nomination Committee will also take place on 2nd November. C. Community Service Non-Medical Rtn. Bageshri Gogate reported: I) Vocational Awards to be decided when members of the committee return after their travels. Plan is to meet within a week. II) Renovation Of Anganwadis, a district Project will cost 1.5 lakhs per Anganwadi. Approaches have been made for CSR. This project can be taken up as soon as funds are available. III) Rtn. Bageshri to follow up with Rtn Rajesh Gupta and begin to identify two Anganwadis and do the need assessment. D. Public Image i) Rtn. Sujata reported that permission has been obtained to put up standees to display and promote RCPDs signature project LN4 on 7 metro stations Standees have been put up at Vanaz, PCMC Civil Court and Pune Railway Station giving a boost to public image of the club. E. Youth Service Rtn. Shailendra reported: i) Certificates for our 10 interactors who attended the District Interact Assembly have been collected from the district director and given to Rtn. Phiroze. He will hand them over to the school ii) Need to pay pending Rotaract dues for the Rotaract club of AIIMS. This is pending and discussed with both Pallavi and Sunil Holay iii) Working with Pallavi to schedule the Rotaract installation for the Rotaract Club of Symbiosis Skills University. iv) Interactors visit to the Maritime Museum will be arranged before the end of this year v) Yezdi requested that our Rotaract Club Of Symbiosis Skills University participate in one of the two Global Grants that were discussed during the meeting vi) We need to plan our RYLA activities . vii) Formation of Interact club at RCM school is being followed up by Rtn. Jitu Mehta. F. Foundation Rtn. Yezdi Batliwala reported: i) APF collection. This month not much addition in the total club contributions as no members have come forward to contribute. Global Grant No.2119450 – Upgradation of Ophthalmology equipment at Ankit Shirdi Sai Baba Hospital at Vadu (KEM): The closure application was made long back but is not accepted as the final balance amount as per Utilization Certificate of the Grant shows an outstanding amount of Rs. 4223. 82 must be returned by us to Rotary Foundation (India). The amount is to be sent by cheque or NEFT Bank Transfer. I. The new Global Grant titled ‘Rotary-Janaseva Foundation Vocational Skilling Centre’ of approximately USD 62,050 (Rs.51,50,150) is almost ready for uploading. The Grant number obtained is GG2456879. The shortfall of approximately USD 7800 (Rs. 6,47,000) has been made up by getting enhanced DDF from our District. The Co-host foreign partner in the Grant is Rotary Club of Pakenham, RID 9820. II. Yezdi hopes to send the Community Assessment Report for Primary Approval to the RGO (Regional Grants Officer) Ms. Caroline Kwak by next week. G. Community Service Medical Rtn. Vinod Dua’s report was read: i) Under National TB Eradication Program of Government of India, Nutrition Packets were distributed to 175 TB patients at Swantatra Sainani Gangaram Karne Hospital, Yerwada, Pune. ii) An Eye Check-up Camp was held at Dhanrajgir Jr College, Camp Education Trust, Pune on 6th October 2023. Eyes of 200 students and staff were checked. iii) LN4 Gift Of Mobility Camp was held at Sane Guruji Medical College on 30 September 2023. There were 18 beneficiaries. H. Community Eye Care Foundation’s Low Vision Centre Rtn. Bageshri reported: i) Community Eye Care Foundations Low Vision Centre team of optometrists led by Shailesh Wagh and Apoorva Shitole examined 6 schools for the blind in South Maharashtra. The team examined 3 special schools in Solapur, one in Pandharpur, one in Miraj and one in Kolhapur. Each student underwent a comprehensive eye examination followed by low vision evaluation and was advised rehabilitation. This centre is run through CSR grant by Duroshox and Rotary Club of Poona Downtown and Vision AID Centre USA. ii) Each child also was examined with L V Prasad Vision Function Questionnaire and WHO Prevention of Blindness form for classifying cause and type of Blindness. Of the 224 blind children, 76 would have their vision improved with optical, non-optical and electronic aids. They shall be purchased and dispensed through the project free of cost to these special children that would improve their mobility and allow them to read print instead of Braille. iii) Day 1 (10/10/23) NAB Karyashala Solapur ,Total patients checked: 40, LVD's to be ordered (optical+electronic+non-optical) : 6 iv) Rajiv Gandhi Memorial Blind School, Solapur, Total patients checked:25, LVD's to be ordered(optical+electronic+non-optical) : 3 v) Day 2(11/10/23), Bhairu Ratan Damani Blind School, Solapur, Total patients checked:34 , LVD's to be ordered (optical+electronic+non-optical): 13 vi) Shaheed Major Kunal Gosavi Blind School, Pandharpur, Total patient checked:27, LVD’s to be ordered (optical+electronic+non-optical) : 7 vii) Day 3(12/10/23), NAB Miraj, Total patients checked: 58, LVD's to be ordered (optical+electronic+non-optical) to: 32 viii) Day 4(13/10/23), Dnyanprabodhan Bhavan Sanchalit Aundh School Total patients checked: 40, LVD's to be ordered (optical+electronic+non-optical) to: 15 I Membership and Strategic Planning Rtn. Nanu Iyer reported: I) He has been talking about Rotary at several corporates. HSBC has responded positively for both individual and corporate membership and CSR. II) 1. HSBC: Our proposal for Corporate membership has gone to a higher level. They are considering CSR for specific, long-term welfare projects. III) Trying for their middle management staff to join us as individual members. IV) The next meeting will also be attended by Rtn. Yezdi. V) AMDOCS: Their Sr Directors were to come for meetings on 12th & 13th October from Tel Aviv to Pune. Meetings are indefinitely postponed due to war in Israel. VI) Executives from John Deere, whom Rtn. Balakrishna Karwa met, also showed interest in Rotary. CSR presentation to be made with the help of Rtn Asis Ray and the CSR committee. Thereafter the meeting was adjourned. The next BOD meeting will be held at Rtn Shikha Mitra’s residence on 14th November at 6.00 PM.
