Minutes of Meeting ROTARY CLUB OF POONA DOWNTOWN Minutes of the 6th BOD Meeting Held on 14th December 2023 at Cedar Oak, Poona Club Present: Rtns Aruna Rathi, Zimra Israel, Sujata Malkani, Shailendra Abhyankar, Bageshri Gogate, PNN Iyer, Shikha Mitra, Rtn Vinod Dua, Rtn Rajendra Nahar, Rtn Yezdi Batliwala and Rtn. Masarrat Tavawala Leave of Absence: Sunil Holay Proceedings President Aruna welcomed everyone. Minutes of the BOD Meeting held on 14th November 2023 were proposed to be adopted by Rtn Sujata Malkani, seconded by. Rtn Zimra Israel and thereafter unanimously adopted by the Board. The directors presented their reports. A. Treasurer’s Report I. Rtn Sunil Holay reported that the balance in our Club and Trust accounts on 30th November2023 were as follows: II. I. RCPD Club Account Bank of India Savings Account Balance Rs. 1,12,879.90 i. Flexi Account Statement awaited ii. Fixed Deposits Rs. 11,63,422.00 III. RCPD Charitable Trust HDFC Bank Savings Account Balance Rs. 43,59,575.80 Bank of India Account Balance Statement awaited IV. RCPD Charitable Trust CSR Account HDFC Bank Savings A/c Rs. 5,00,174.80 i. HDFC Bank Fixed Deposit Rs.. 30,00,000.00 B. Club Administration ministration and Vice President Rtn Masarrat Tavawalla reported: I. The Bills of the Diwali Fellowship night have been submitted to the Treasurer Rtn Sunil Holay. II. The Programmes schedule for the month of December is laid out. III. Discussions about the Christmas evening for 21st December-Got approval for Christmas evening IV. Discussed about celebrating Christmas with underprivileged children V. Discussed the pros and cons of the picnic to the Suhana factory. Discussion took place about the bus being sponsored by the club. It was decided that each one will pay for the travel. VI. Discussed about the date of the international night along with the budget -approximately a lakh was spent last year. VII. Programme details was shared for the month of December January and tentatively February. C. Community Service Non-Medical: Rtn. Bageshri Gogate reported: Work for Anganwadi Project is in progress. Four Anganwadis have been selected and a list of the requirements in these Anganwadis have been received, and Rtn Rajesh Gupta will be overseeing this project D. Public Image Rtn. Sujata reported: i. All projects have been reported on the District WhatsApp groups. ii. Dialysis Center and Gift of Mobility Posters have been pasted on Auto Rickshaws, which is giving a great public image for the Club. All other projects posted on district groups are also getting good appreciation. E. Youth Service Rtn. Shailendra reported: i. Pending installation for the Rotaract club of Symbiosis Skills University. The office bearers for RY 23-24 are elected and already functioning. The Rotractors could not organise a formal installation due to their internships. Given this, we agreed that there will be no requirement for a formal installation ceremony. He will follow up with Rtn Pallavi Sable to confirm that the pins, gavel etc. are handed over to the new board. ii. The Rotaract club for AISSMS has no active members as the club stopped functioning during the pandemic. This club will automatically be closed due to non-payment of dues to RI. iii. Our interact clubs (Sunderji Stars and Pujya Kasturba Gandhi school) are actively participating in the upcycling project and have attended the workshop that was conducted by the district team iv. 4. RCPD Facebook page - provided an update based on my follow up with Rtn Aashima and Triven. We agreed to try and reactivate our existing Facebook page. F. Foundation Rtn. Yezdi Batliwala reported: i. APF collection as on 7th December 2023 is Rs 3,97,450(USD 4919)- out of this RS.10,000 will be contributed towards Polio Fund. ii. The Global Grant GG2456879 “Rotary-Janaseva Foundation Vocational Skilling Centre” is being processed. Community Assessment queries were raised by Ms. Caroline Kwak; we have replied and are waiting for her response. Meantime, the application for the Global Grant is being completed. iii. A letter has been received from Mr. Suresh Balani, who had donated RS,30,00,000 (Rs Thirty lakhs) last month, confirming hIs preference on how and where the money should be used. The receipt for the cheque is to be forwarded to him. iv. The opening ceremony for the Shri Bahari Malhotra Residential and Vocational Training Home for Girls is scheduled for 8TH, January 2024. G. Community Service Medical: Rtn. Vinod Dua reported: I. Gift of Mobility Activity at Sane Guruji Medical College is being conducted on Saturdays. The footfall of beneficiaries in November and December was low and so far, only three beneficiaries have been given prosthetic LN-4 hands. II. Sixth and last Distribution of Nutrition Packets for TB Patients was completed on Monday 27 November at Rajiv Gandhi Hospital, Yerwada. President Rtn Aruna Rathi, PE Rtn Nanu Iyer and myself attended a small ceremony. Pune City CTO, Dr Prashant presided and we gave the Nutrition packets to 30 beneficiaries- the rest will collect their packets on their next visit to the hospital. III. Mastercard Blood Donation camp was postponed and further confirmation will come towards end of December or in the first half of January 2024. IV. On January 11, Wednesday, an Eye Camp is scheduled at Care Foundation Emmanuel Public School, NIBM Undri Road, Pune. V. Activities will pick up from January 2024 onwards. H. Membership and Strategic Planning Director Rtn PNN Iyer had the following points to report: a. Membership: The MNC Cos (HSBC, BNY Melon, John Deere) are closing their financial year by Dec 31st. Further meetings expected only after 1st week of January 2024. Amdocs' Directors from Tel Aviv are not expected in the near future. After mid-January we expect a few prospective members from these MNCs to join us as guests for Sunday Brunch meetings. b. Strategic Planning: Now that the incoming Board has been formally announced the formal meeting with the committee members will be held shortly. I. PP Rtn Zimra Israel reported: Rtn Zimra Israel gave an update on the RCPD Dialysis Centre, Bopodi Dr Zimra Israel reported that she has taken several steps to increase footfall at the RCPD Dialysis centre in Bopodi. • These include making several calls and meeting with Mr Kothari and staff at the Khedekar hospital to understand what needs to be done to increase patient traffic. • She then personally met the PMC Chief medical officer Dr Bhagwan Pawar, Assistant Medical officer Dr Wavare and others at PMC. She requested that they instruct their PMC staff to direct patients to our Center before they send them to larger private hospitals in Pune. • Some suggestions were taken from them and they promised to help direct the urban poor patients to our Centre. • Dr Israel along with help of a local social worker started an intense PI campaign. Flyers in Marathi and English were made at short notice and distributed at several hospitals and medical stores to explain the availability of our state-of-the-art facility. These flyers were also posted on WhatsApp groups. In addition, flyers were put in newspapers such as Pune Times and Sakal. Larger posters in Marathi pasted on autorickshaws. • In order to make it easy for the patient, our social worker personally goes to the PMC with the patient to get their permit card made. This 2-3 week long intense campaign has resulted in patients in the door and we now have 10 urban poor patients which will lead to at least 100 dialysis in a month There being no further business the meeting was adjourned after a vote of thanks to the host. The next BOD meeting will be hosted by Rtn Vinod Dua on 15th January at 4.30 pm at the Poona Club.
