Minutes of Meeting Rotary Club of Poona Downtown AG Visit-22nd February 2024 AG, Rtn Mahesh Makhija visited RCPD on the 22nd of Feb 2024. He had a meeting with all directors on the Board for an hour, where he discussed the clubs goals, attendance, status of all accounts, our contribution to the Rotary foundation and all checked all documents related to the club. It was a very pleasant one with tea, coffee and pakoras. In the regular weekly meeting, the President and all Directors made their presentation, on the work done and future goals. Ident Aruna, called the meeting to order and welcomed AG Mahesh Makhija and made her opening remarks and her goals. RCPD has always thrived to make it a vibrant Club, with participative members, impactful projects and partnering with other clubs in the district and international. Rtn Masarrat Tavawalla, director Administration spoke about the various informative, and interesting talks on varied topics, Music, dance and poetry session that had been organized at the club, and more interesting programs are in the offing. The Bulletin committee is also doing excellent work and have come out with 17 bulletins till date. We have had some memorable Fellowships too, celebrating Diwali, Lori , Christmas etc. Director Medical Rtn Vinod Dua summarised the projects that has been completed, like the blood donation camp, eye check-ups- 3 camps and 1111 beneficiaries, LN 4 prosthetic hand camps- 716 fitments have been done till date, Hepatitis Vaccinations given to 72 patients and staff at Mental Hospital, Yeravda , supplying Nutritional packages to TB patients in three TB hospitals in Pune – 175 beneficiaries, and the 8 cycle shops donated by members of RCPD His plans for the future are 1. 300 more Inali hand fitments by February – March 2. Dental check up camps to cover 8—school children 3. 2 more eye check-up camp to covering 500 school children 4. 200 more Nutritional packages for TB patients- funds are being collected 5. Support 25 paediatric surgeries. Director- non-medical, Rtn Bageshri Gogate-summed up as follows; 1. RCPD has gifted school- kits to poor children 2. Celebrated Christmas with children at HOPE Daycare and gifted some sweets, board games and floor mats etc. 3. RPD gave laptops to 20 visually impaired students at SP College. 4. Instituted 10 Rotary Scholarships at AIPTECH- 5 for Computer Applications Course and 5 for Fashion Designing Course 5. In our Bedside Assistance Training Program • Fourth batch of 110 trainees being trained by KEM Research Centre. • Employment rate is 87% • Assures financial independence 6. Low aid vision canter- a CSR project has • Screened 696 visually impaired persons. • 248 beneficiaries given low vision aid devices. • 248 beneficiaries given training and counselling for rehabilitation .7. Plan for Happy Anganwadis • 4 Anganwadis are identified • Need assessment is done • Renovation work will start soon • . 8. Dialysis Center at Khedekar Hospital • A State –of –the art 10 bedded Dialysis Center ,is fully functional now and offering free dialysis to BPL patients 9. Two Ongoing Projects A. Waste Management Pits -Serve 500 households in the area -A mega environment saver -Managed by Niramaya B. Coaching classes for girls in a basti -Conducted by Niramaya -Nearly 600 enrolled -Prevents school drop-outs Youth Director, Rtn Shailendra Abhyankar reported that all our 4 interact clubs are active. He mentioned • Two were revived and two chartered this year • All four active and doing good work • Sunderji Stars has neuro -diverse children who are thriving with these activities • Participated in District Assembly and District Conference • . Rotaract club’ • Couldn’t have a formal installation – but functioning smoothly • RYLA is on the plan In the absence of Director Foundation, Rtn Yezdi Batliwala, Rtn Anil Goel had the following to say Rs. USD 1. a. APF collection up to 20.02.2024 18,74,801 22,718.82 b. Polio collection up to 20.02.2024 10,000 120.48 c. CSR donation from Duroshox Pvt.Ltd. 31,42,000 37,855.42 for Radiation Center Global Grant d. Cow Donation Global Grant by members 1,05,000 1265.06 Total Giving for TRF for the year 51,21,801 61,839.30 2. The Global Grant GG2456879 “RCPD-Janaseva Foundation Vocational Skilling Centre”. Application should be filled mid April. Value of Grant Rs. 47.5 Lakhs 3. From the Donation of Rs.30,00,000 (Rs. Thirty Lakhs Only) which was received from Rtn. Suresh Balani from USA, his permission has been taken to divert the Rs. 10 Lakhs allotted for Cancer Nutrition towards the District Thrust Project on Pediatric Cardiac Surgery. The fresh break up is as under: a) Improvement of Balwadis, especially in Rural areas – Rs. 10 Lakhs b) Pediatric Cardiac Surgeries – Rs. 20 Lakhs. 4. We have approached Shirdi Saibaba Sanjeevani Hospital, Kharghar, with a proposal to partner us on the Pediatric Cardiac Surgeries Project as a Global Grant of value Rs. 34.94 lakhs. Cost of each Surgery average about Rs. 1.5 lakhs, so we should be able to save and help about 24 to 25 underprivileged children with a healthy life. USA based Rotary club which Rtn Balani is a member has been approached to join us as a Notional Partner for the Grant. Final modalities are being worked out with Sanjeevani and District. 5. “SHRI BAHRI MALHOTRA RESIDENTIAL & VOCATIONAL TRAINING HOME FOR GIRLS” – The CSR Grant is nearing completion. Final payments are being made. The official opening of the home was done by Former President Hon’ble Shri Ram Nath Kovind on 8th January 2024. Closure Report will be filed on schedule by end May 2024. 6. PLANS TILL END OF ROTARY YEAR 2023-24 a. Total APF and Polio Collection Rs. 21,32,000 (US$ 25,800) b. Total TRF giving for the year Rs. 1,33,00,000 (US$ 160,241) Thereafter AG Mahesh Makhija had a few words to say. He thought out club was vibrant and active, doing good projects. He was specially happy to see the Foundation Status of RCPD. It was indeed a very satisfying meeting for him.
