On Saturday, 26th August, RCPD started the Eye Donation Fortnight with 201 Eye donation posters pasted behind auto rickshaws. First time, the RCPD has undertaken this mega PR campaign in Pune city with 24X7 display posters. Thanks to Shailendra, Pradeep bhai, Jitubhai, Arun Oswal, we could achieve our target. Following this, on 31st August Jitubhai received a phone call from Mr Ramdas Joshi that on Sunday the 27th of August his father passed away and they wanted to donate eyes. This information was passed on to the H.V.DESAI eye bank and within 45 to 50 minutes they reached from Mohammedwadi to Sahakarnagar. The eyes were collected. It was only one day before that the club of Poona downtown put a poster on Mr Joshi' s rickshaw MY 12 H 3014 and the next day it resulted into an actual Eye Donation. Rotary club of Poona Downtown has put 200 such posters on auto rickshaws as part of creating awareness of eye donation. Kudos to Pres. Rajesh and Phiroze for this brilliant idea and timely execution.
