This is a Global Grant Project (GG1980548) Cervical cancer vaccination of adolescent girls in rural areas around Pune, India This project is the thrust area of the our district. Project started in July'18, with identifying local partners, International partner and implementation partner. Cervical cancer is ranked as the second most frequent cancer in women in India. Approximately, 132,000 new cases are diagnosed and approx 70,000 die annually. India accounts for nearly 1/3rd of the global cervical cancer deaths. The most common cause of cervical cancer is the HPV-human papilloma virus. It is estimated that, about 6.6% of women in the general population harbor cervical HPV infection. Vaccines are available for the prevention of cervical cancer and its administration at a young age for girls is highly recommended. In the present project, it is proposed that adolescent girls from tribal villages of Ambegaon, Junnar & Rajgurunagar blocks of Pune district, Maharashtra, be the target beneficiaries for cervical cancer vaccination. Due to election in the country, we need to reschedule our program and now actual execution will start on 15th June’19, once schools reopens after vacations. We plan to complete the 1st Phase of vaccination by 31st July’19. After the gap of six months our phase II of vaccination will start.. In the mean time awareness sessions in the community, Preparation of information, education, communication and counseling work etc has started. We Have signed MOU with KEM Hospital Resarch Centre (KEMHRC) who will execute the project. Our partner clubs from the district are RC Poona Airport, Pune Far East and Poona North Our International partners from USA are Fort Collins After Work, Fort Collins-Breakfast and Fort Collins Total budget: 92,800.00 which has been received
