Visit to Suhana Factory – Rural Entrepreneurship Demo Centre, 20th August 2021 A day well spent in the midst of nature and modernity!.. contributed by Rtn Shailendra Abhyankar The Suhana factory, demo centre, and model farm at Yewat is worth a visit - some of us from Downtown had an enjoyable day! The demo centre was built to provide information on an eco-friendly and sustainable lifestyle to both the rural and urban sectors. Suhana Farms also focusses on spreading awareness on best practices w.r.t to sustainable farming and the importance of reducing, reusing, recycling, and up-cycling waste. It brings together different methodologies invented and utilized by various NGOs, and showcases them on a single platform. Anand Chordia graciously hosted our RCPD team. His passion and involvement were evident as he showed us some hands-on activities that showcased wealth generation from allied farming businesses and ways to create wealth from waste! The videos, and posters demonstrating best practices with sustainable farming were educational for us urban folks! The factory is also built using green principles. A visit to their Bhuleshwar warehouse showcased the blended use of modern technology with eco-friendly practices. President Asis Ray, PP Biman Mookerjee, PP Jitu Mehta, PP Pallavi Sable, PP Ravikumar, PP Rathin Sinha, Rtn. Shailedra and Ann Urmila Abhyankar were present during this visit. It felt good to get together with friends in person, and the green environment and rustic food made the day special. The Eco Factory Foundation (TEFF) a non-profit organization created by Suhana. We are in discussions with TEFF on a number of initiatives including creating awareness amongst farmers on sustainable farming and rural entrepreneurship. The objectives are Food Power - to increase yield per acre, Economic Stability = get more return by decreasing the cost of farming, and Employment generation – via allied farming practices. Members who are interested in this initiative should contact President Asis Ray, PP Rathin Sinha or Rtn. Shailendra Abhyankar
