150 Ladies of Tadiwala Road Slum were counselled to join Vocational Training courses to improve their prospects. The first project of Women in Rotary started on 10th July in a slum in Tadiwala Rd. Around 100 Ladies gathered to hear about what Rotary does for women and various avenues that are available for them to follow and enrich their lives. Inaugural speech was given by Pres. Supriya followed by Guru Vandana & Saraswati Vandana by Mrs. Kalpana Chatterjee. There were 3 speakers, Nilofer Tyrewala from Gyan Adab, Mrs. Pramila from Deepgriha and Mrs. Sagufta Anwar from Anjuman Polytechnic. Each one of them spoke about various programmes they conduct for women. Ann Meena Latey informed the Ladies about different projects our Club has for the empowerment of women like, Adult literacy classes, Driving lessons for girls above 18 yrs, Nurses training programme for girls who have passed class X and so on. During the interactive session, 17 girls wanted to take driving lessons while 10 senior Ladies wanted to join literacy classes, 6 young ladies showed interest in enrolling for Nurses training.
