130 saplings , both flowering and fruit trees, specially suited for the area were planted at Anandvan Hill at Kondhwa A Tree Plantation Ceremony was organized by the Rotary Club of Poona Downtown on Sunday 5th July 2015 at ANANDVAN HILLS, Kondhwa. It was indeed heartening to see so many of our members participating in the event with great enthusiasm and joy. RCPD members Supriya Banerjea, Biman & Manju Mookerji, Vikram & Nandita Nabar, Harcharan & Paramjeet, Rajesh & Pritee Gupta with daughter, Vikram Mehmi, Shamsher, Ulhas Bhosle, Meena Latey, Pundalik Kudva,Biresh Mitra, Bageshree Gogate with family, Deana with her son were present. Chief Conservator of Forest– Mr. Sarfaraj Khan, DFO- Mr Gujjar & some Staff of the Forest Department were also present. Volunteers of Anandvan Mitra Mandal along with Senior Mr. Gogate guided the Rotarians and Anns in tree plantation. This program led by our Club President Rtn Supriya Banerjea, along with the Service Project Director Rajesh Gupta, was a very important initiative towards the Green Revolution (save our Environment Program). 130 saplings were planted by our Club Members at the Anadvan Hill with the active participation from members, both from the Club as well as from Anandvan Mitra Mandal. Senior Gogate explained the historical background of Anandvan area which is a part of the Reserved Forest and also about the various plants in the forest. Mr Khan & Mr Gujjar, the Senior Officials from the Forest Department also shared their thoughts. Snacks, Bananas & Tea were arranged which was enjoyed by all after the hard work. Our club President thanked everybody for their whole hearted support & presented mementos to the organizers. This program was indeed a very successful and a satisfying experience
