PKGEMS (Pujya Kasturba Gandhi English Medium School) located on North Main Road, Koregaon Park, came into our fold, RCPD, today by becoming a member of our Interact fraternity. At a function this afternoon, amidst many of our Club members, Anns & Spouses, the President and other office bearers of the Interact club were sworn in by our President Aruna Rathi. Interact President Debanjan Paswan received the collar, gavel and lapel pin , Secretary Roshani Edake and VP Aakansha Ahire received lapel pins from President Aruna Rathi. PP Rtn Biman Mookerjee honoured all the committee members of Interact Club with Rotary Youth Icon caps. The entire programme was designed & delivered by our PP Rtn Supriya Banerjea, with her usual meticulous precision. President Aruna Rathi administered the oath to all Interactors and welcomed them to the Family of Rotary. All Interact members were given Certificates of Membership. This school comes under Akanksha Foundation, which enables high quality education to children from the low income, (BPL) category. They run 26 such schools in Pune, under the Pune Municipal Corporation/Zilla Parishad. PKGEMS, came under Akanksha Foundation in 2016. There are 927 students here, from KG to Class X, taught by 40 Teachers & supported by 20 non-teaching staff. Every year they receive about 200 applications from the 3KM radius for admission to KG. They use the lottery system to absorb 68 students. 12 seats are reserved for the discretion of the 4 Corporators. So, the total intake is 80 @ 40 kids per class. Akanksha Foundation brings in hi-quality Teachers & and Principals under a scientifically managed system. Faculty Development programmes are held every last Saturday of the month by their centrally managed Training Deptt of subject experts. All their Teachers are minimum B. Ed. They have specialized programmes for slow learners & learning disability affected students.
