RCPD joins hands with Coastal Clean Up and Ocean Conservancy, to be a part of its International initiative of cleanliness. In its Pune Chapter, they organised the cleaning of the banks of the Mula-Muttha River. RCPD involved some of the Students, 21 of them, along with their teacher, from Sajna Bai School, Tadiwala Road, and girl students of Anjuman Islam Polytechnic on this project. On Saturday, 10 th of October, all of us gathered at Bund garden, along with Rotary Club of Inspira, Inner wheel Downtown, girls from Anjuman School and two of their teachers and some members of two other Inner Wheel Clubs, for this noble cause. The boys of Sajna Bai School and the girls of the Polytechnic gathered around 16 bags of garbage from the river bank in the form of plastic bags, rubber chappals, glass bottles, pieces of Thermocol.. all toxic and non-bio degradable substances. For one hour, the boys did their work with a lot of enthusiasm and interest. This will also be their part of The Environmental project for the tenth standard students, which is now compulsory in the school academic curriculum. Environmental pollution is one of the biggest problems the world faces today. It is an issue that troubles us economically, physically and every day of our lives. Yet, most people do not know about this problem It needs to be taken care of as soon as possible, not only for the good of the environment but also for the people that live in it. It was a morning well spent and some awareness was instilled in these students. Fruit Juice packets were distributed to all and Members from RCPD present were, Pres.
