“ I was in Nasik Kumbha when, looking at my hand, somebody gave me a pamphlet of free artificial LN4 hand to be distributed in a camp at Jamnagar, Gujarat in October this year. I don’t know who he was, but for me he turned out to be no less than God itself. Being a handicapped carpenter in Alwar in Rajasthan and in for my furniture business this information could not be a better blessing for me in Kumbha Mela. I decided to contact the organizers immediately but somehow I could not reach the numbers mentioned on the pamphlet after making repeated efforts. Then I surfed the internet for LN4 hand in India and I got the name of ROTARY CLUB OF POONA DOWNTOWN and got its president SUPRIYA contact number from the internet and talked to her about camp. She gave me the number of Shabbir Jamnagarwala and who in turn gave me the details of both the camp at Dondaicha and Jamnagar and contact details of Hussain Bhai of Dondaicha. I immediately contacted him and confirmed him that I will be coming to Dondaicha via train on 11th morning for the camp. But I was constantly worried by the questions in my mind; Who are these people ?, Why they are giving free hands ?, What are their real intentions ?, Will this hand will be really useful ? But today as I stand before you with this god gifted hand, I salute each and every person behind this camp for their selfless service, for giving their invaluable time for this cause and for changing the life of people like us. In future if I can be of any use in this cause please must inform me. THANK YOU VERY MUCH ALL ORGANIZERS.” …………………………….Satya Prakash Kataria, Alwar This speech by Mr. Satya Prakash from Alwar, who was not a scheduled speaker at the main function after the camp but could not stop himself, speaks volume of the efforts of RCPD LN4 team and ROTARY CLUB OF DONDAICHA SENIORS under the leadership of Hussain Bhai. Another pleasant surprise was the Chief guest of the program, Ms Lakshmi Shinde, a 15 year old girl (handicapped from both hands and that too from shoulders) who just cleared her 10th exams by writing herself came all the way from Sholapur. Yes, you read it right ‘WRITING HERSELF ‘. She does not need any artificial hand from anybody, nor a writer, as her will power and her determination to fight against all odds were so strong that many of us were dwarves in front of her. She cleared her 10th exams by writing from her leg fingers in examination hall, she paints pictures from her leg fingers, she makes Mehandi from her leg fingers and many more, like any normal person. WE WERE HONOURED TO HAVE HER AS CHIEF GUEST FOR THIS CAMP. A three day trip of Dondaicha (a small town 425 km away from Pune) was not just another camp for RCPD LN4 TEAM, Pradeep Munot, Shabbir Jamnagarwala, Shabbir Tavawala, Nitin Kundale (our permanent volunteer for LN4 team) and myself, where we could make significant changes in the life of 52 people by giving them free hands but it was another complete satisfying spiritual experience with visit to Shirdi Sai Baba temple in between the way and visit to farm house of our host Mr. Bapu saheb and his brother Mr. Sarkar saheb. Incidentally, The RCC Disabled Dondaicha Round Town the first ever Disable RCC in Rotary International, was presented the charter received from RI at the hands of our own Shabbirbhai. The backbone of this camp was Mr. HUSSAIN BHAI VIRDELWALA (chairman of handicapped RCC Dondaicha) of Rotary club of Dondaicha Seniors, who singlehandedly had put every effort to make this camp a success. Further the entire team was grateful to Mr. Haider Bhai Noorani of Shahada for sponsoring the entire camp. Dr. Mukund Sohoni, president of host club, Dr. Ravindra Deshmukh Ex-President of Dondaicha Municipality, Mr. Kalpesh Bhale, of MS Apang Vitta Mahamandal Solapur Zone, Mr. Manikbhai Chowdhari, president Giants Club, Shahada graced the occasion. Thank you Dondaicha !
