LN 4 JOINT PROJECT WITH RC JAMNAGAR Chaalo Gujrat ! No , not for Dandiya, but for our RCPD premier project the LN4! Six of us from RCPD ie Pradip, Shabbir, Rashida, Arun Ullhas and myself and 3 eveready dedicated volunteers ie our Jitu, Mr Mane and Nitin boarded the flight to Ahmedabad on 23 Oct. Arriving at 130 pm, we had 5 hrs to kill as our train to Jamnagar left at 6 pm. The Jamnagar team work is to be seen to be believed ! Not just Rotarians, but also Annes, children and” Frotarians” ie friends of Rotarians were there from 6.30 am onwards the next day inspite of some of them being with us till 2.30 am the previous night. Totally there were 100 volunteers plus 20 volunteers looking after the catering arrangements. Meticulous homework & planning, innovative ideas, harmonious co-ordination of all related organizations/agencies, flawless execution was clearly noticeable. The arrangements were impeccable. All the beneficiaries who reported the previous night, were provided stay facility at the venue. And those who arrived very early morning were also well looked after with tea and breakfast. The registration team was very very efficient and the software extremely good. In spite of most of the Jamnagar team going for garba and dandiya as it was Navratri, all 100 volunteers reported for training in the evening before the camp on 25th Oct. Totally 158 hands were fitted…ie there was 1 volunteer for every 1.5 recipient ! A stern disciplined approach warned the volunteers that only those who can stay full time should join the team and those who arrive late on the scene will have to go back. All volunteers were quick to learn at both fitment and at the training desks and therefore answered questions raised by the beneficiaries with care and empathy. Each and every beneficiary was escorted by a volunteer and that is why there was no chaos and everything flowed smoothly. In addition, the continuous interview of beneficiaries on the public address system in the training hall was a very attractive and effective measure. That inspired and motivated the beneficiaries to a great extent. The interviewers were really very good and skillful who made the beneficiaries feel at ease and speak out their feelings. The spirit of working for others was clearly seen when a couple from a far away village near Vadodara arrived on the scene when everything was packed off and we all were about to leave the venue. The hands were arranged to be brought back to the venue, volunteers Nitin, Krutika & Rachit returned to join Bharatbhai for fitment and the donee couple departed with broad smiles after receiving their hands. This project was a joint project of Dist 3060 and 3051.There were 6 PDGs present at the camp. PDG 3051 Ashish Desai who has been on the RI board and was the Chief guest put it very succinctly when he said that the 4 principle tenets while doing “Seva “ were “SAMTA, MAMTA, KSHAMTA AND NAMRATA ‘
