08 May is observed as World Thallasemia Day in order to bring awareness among the people around the world of this disease which is not very uncommon. Our club supported the cause of Thallasemia by donating medical equipment needed for blood transfusion , medicine and also supported partly the special programs organized on this day to entertain the little kids with Thallasemia. We donated at Red Cross Society of India, Pune Branch and at Sassoon Hospital. We donated, according to their requirements, filters,chelation medicines for removing iron from blood, Intracath of different sizes,Tuberculin syringes of different numbers etc.which will benefit at least 225 children who come to these two centers for regular treatment throughout the year. The Red Cross Society celebrated the Day on 07 May at their Rasta Peth Center.They organised Puppet Show for the children and question-answer session for the parents where specialist doctors answered the queries of the parents.The children were given toys,drawing sets and refreshments.Our contribution at the Red cross Society is Rs.30,000.R'Ann Shikha Mitra and President Supriya Banerjea attended the program. The Sassoon Hospital celebrated the the Day on 10 May at the Pediatric Department.The children performed music,dances etc.They were given school bags,water bottles, lunch boxes and refreshments.Total contribution from our club to Sassoon Hospital is Rs.20,000. Rtns.Pallavi Sable,Dipti Bhosale,R'Anns Shikha Mitra,Manju Mookerji and President Supriya were present for the program. This project is fully sponsored by our members. Rtns.Biresh Mitra, Subhash Sanzgiri, Pinky Mehmi, Phiroze Masters,Shashank Jauhari,Anil Chadhha,Naresh Malhotra,Zimra Israel,Dipti Bhosale and R'Ann Sumita Guha donated Rs.5000 each for the project.
